Mike Lorenz & Friendz

For nearly 8 years…

Mike has been playing mellifluous tunes and savage riffs at Tired Hands Brewing Company in Ardmore, PA. Beginning in December 2012, and for nearly every Thursday after, Mike has descended upon the humble upstairs of the Tired Hands Brew Cafe with an assortment of configurations and bands, pushing out new music to the masses.

Called “Mike Lorenz & Friendz,” each week features a different group that is put together just for that evening. Out of this, many bands have emerged, projects have been rehearsed and finalized, and solo guitar playing has been explored.

In 2014, we collaborated on a monumental the first ever (I think) WORLD TOUR OF ARDMORE, to celebrate the release of the first Mike Lorenz & Friendz LP, a collection of Nirvana and Black Sabbath covers arranged for jazz organ trio. Long sold out, this release is available on streaming platforms.

We’ve busked for patrons waiting in line for beer, played space music from the future on iPads and mini-synths, brewed a few beers at home and in several different states, improvised doomy riffs for smoked-out skully drawing classes, explored music & beer pairings with live improvised music, music & beer & PIZZA pairings, spun off into a pop-up pizza brand called RECENT PIES, recorded and released a record of improvised music with thrash drummer Dave Witte…it’s been a high time =)
